Anime That I Like.

So recently I have been totally into anime. I am anime obsessed right now and I’ve been trying to watch as much as I can. So today beautiful people I’m gonna list some anime that I have watched or I’m currently watching. This list is just for series, not movies. I will do movies later.
Hataraku Maou-Sama (the devil is a part-timer)

The show is about a demon king named Sadao Maou seeking to conquer the world of Ente Isla but, when confronted by the Hero Emilia, he is forced to retreat through a gate that transports him to modern day Tokyo, Japan. To survive and find a way to return to Ente Isla, Satan gains part-time employment at a fast food restaurant called MgRonald. This was a funny show, very light, although I was sad that it wasn’t long because I needed more but it was still cool to watch and I still go back and watch funny moments. I recommend this to anyone.

Nanatsu no Taizai (seven deadly sins)

In a world similar to the European Middle Ages, the feared yet revered Holy Knights of Britannia use immensely powerful magic to protect the region of Britannia and its kingdoms. However, a small subset of the Knights supposedly betrayed their homeland and turned their blades against their comrades in an attempt to overthrow the ruler of Liones. They were defeated by the Holy Knights, but rumours continued to persist that these legendary knights, called the “Seven Deadly Sins,” were still alive. Ten years later, the Holy Knights themselves staged a coup d’état, and thus became the new, tyrannical rulers of the Kingdom of Liones. Nanatsu no Taizai follows the adventures of Elizabeth, the third princess of the Kingdom of Liones, and her search for the Seven Deadly Sins. With their help, she endeavours to not only take back her kingdom from the Holy Knights but to also seek justice in an unjust world. This is another good show, it’s not as light as Hataraku Maou-Sama but it’s not it’s still pretty light, there’s a lot of action so it’s not slow paced. I also recommend this to anyone.

Akame ga Kill

A countryside boy named Tatsumi sets out on a journey to The Capital to make a name for himself and met a seemingly dangerous group of Assassins known as Night Raid. So this show was amazing, a friend actually recommended this and I’m so happy I watched this. The show is about assassins so obviously there will be a lot of bloody scenes, but it’s totally worth it, you fall in love with the characters and root for them. Like I said there are bloody scenes but I think it’s manageable so I recommend it.

Naruto is a hyperactive and knuckle-headed ninja living in the village hidden in leaves. Shunned because of the nine tailed fox inside him, Naruto struggles to find his place in the village, while his burning desire to become the Hokage leads him not only to some great new friends but also some deadly foes. This is the only show on this list that I am currently watching. I remember when someone told me about this show and I was like “no thank you”, now I am loving’s funny, it’s emotional and is packed with action. I recommend this to everyone.

Tokyo Ghoul

Ghouls are terrifying creatures which feed on human flesh. When Kaneki is almost killed in an attack, he transforms into a half-ghoul, half-human hybrid and is forced to adapt to their lifestyle in order to survive. This was so interesting, anytime I crack my fingers I think of this show, it’s on the bloody side but it is so worth it, the characters are amazing and the action is pretty cool too, it’s a must watch. I haven’t started watching season three yet because I’m watching Naruto, but I think I might binge watch it when all the episodes are out.

Attack on Titan

After his hometown is destroyed and his mother is killed, young Eren Yeager vows to cleanse the earth of the giant humanoid Titans that have brought humanity to the brink of extinction. The first time I saw this was on youtube and at first I was like “not really”, but I had nothing to watch so I said “sure why not”, and that was the best decision I have ever made in my life. OMG, this show is so mind-blowing, I mean it just gets you at every turn, especially the second season. Every time an episode finishes I’m just like “next”, I was sleep deprived because of this show but I regret nothing, I didn’t eat- more like forgot to eat, I mean who needs those things when you have Captain Levi Ackerman. I am so excited for season three.

Sailor Moon
download (1)

Usagi Tsukino is an average student and crybaby who constantly scores low on her tests. Unexpectedly, her life is turned upside down when she saves a cat with a crescent moon on its head from danger. The cat, named Luna, later reveals that their meeting was not an accident: Usagi is destined to become Sailor Moon, a planetary guardian with the power to protect the Earth. Given a special brooch that allows her to transform, she must use her new powers to save the city from evil energy-stealing monsters sent by the malevolent Queen Beryl of the Dark Kingdom.
But getting accustomed to her powers and fighting villains are not the only things she has to worry about. She must find the lost princess of the Moon Kingdom, the other Sailor Guardians, and the Legendary Silver Crystal in order to save the planet from destruction. This is the show that started my anime obsession. I remember watching it as a kid but it was the dubbed version, so for some reason last year I had an urge to re-watch it and I was hooked, I love this show and it is my favourite anime ever and a classic.

So there you have it, I hope you guys enjoyed this list and if you have any recommendations for me, I would love to hear it.

New TV Series That I Like

Doctor Who, Legends of Tomorrow, Outlander, these are just some of the amazing series I love. Although I can’t watch all the series out there I have a lot of favourites that I can’t live without.

The 2017/2018 season added a lot of shows to my “currently watching” list and here are the ones I watched and my take on them.

Las Vegas magician Cameron Black is ruined by a scandal: he performs his magic tricks with the help of his twin brother, but after his brother is arrested for a murder, he puts his skills of deception and illusion to help the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as a consulting illusionist, and also save his brother.
This show reminds me a lot of the mentalist or castle or white collar. The police gets help from some person that can solve a particular case and the person is now some criminal expert. The show isn’t bad and I don’t mind it, it has its moments but it isn’t special.

Life Sentence
When Stella Abbott receives a diagnosis of terminal cancer, she decides to live life to the fullest like there is no tomorrow. After her doctors inform her that her illness has miraculously been cured, she now needs to live the life she never thought she would have and all the secrets that were kept from her.
Honestly, I feel like this series had a lot of potential but it’s not going great. The plot is great; a girl who gets a second chance at life, that’s amazing, but I feel like every episode is just one big reveal or another, I mean how many things did her family hide from her and how much more dysfunctional can they get. It wouldn’t surprise me if they say she isn’t their daughter, I still watch it but it’s not something I get excited for, it’s more like an I have nothing else to watch kind of series.

siren feature image
Legend has it that Bristol Cove was once home to mermaids. Now, the town has a mysterious new visitor a girl named Ryn, who may just prove that all of the stories are true. After her sister is captured, she gets help from the town’s marine biologist, his girlfriend and his friend to help find her.
This is just four episodes in but I really like it. It’s not the typical mermaid stories we see, it takes a darker turn and I like that and the cast looks cool, so I hope it keeps doing really well.

The Gifted
Marvel expands with this new family adventure series about an ordinary suburban family whose lives change course forever when they discover their children have developed mutant powers. When the threat of a hostile government forces the family to go on the run to protect themselves, they join the ranks of an underground network of mutants. Together, the group fight to survive in a world where fear and misunderstanding put them at constant risk.
I loved this so much, this series was really amazing, you just wanted the best for the Strucker family and the finale was amazing, this is something I can bing watch again and I can’t wait for season 2.

The Runaways
Six Los Angeles teenagers stumble upon a terrible secret and realize that their parents have been lying to them their entire lives. They begin an investigation to try to figure out what their parents are up to, while the adults wonder if their kids are hiding secrets of their own. The unlikely crew of teens bands together – led by de facto leader and primary strategist Alex Wilder, to stop their parents before it is too late.
Keeping things marvel we have the runaways, I loved this show too and can’t wait for season 2. I loved all the actors and the characters and my favourite is Nico and her mom, they are so badass.

That is my list of new TV series I’ve been watching, tell me what series you’ve been watching and I might check it out.

Review of Dead to You by Lisa McMann

Some memories are better left untouched.

Ethan was abducted from his front yard when he was just seven years old. Now, at sixteen, he has returned to his family.

It’s a miracle… at first.

Then the tensions start to build. His reintroduction to his old life isn’t going smoothly, and his family is tearing apart all over again. If only Ethan could remember something, anything, about his life before, he’d be able to put the pieces back together.

But there’s something that’s keeping his memory blocked.

Something unspeakable…

Brief Summary:
This book is about a boy named Ethan who was kidnapped when he was little and he returns years later back to his family and everything turns upside down after that.

My Opinion:
So this is the first book from my reading challenge – Read a book by an authour you haven’t read before. I first saw this book last year on Pinterest, i wanted to read something different from what i was used to, but i didn’t read this book until this year though and let me tell you, this book is amazing. It’s so simple and beautiful, no over complicated stuff like most books.

After Ethan returns home there are a lot of adjustments that are made to embrace him back, but things don’t go so smoothly, at home because of his brother Blake, and in school because of a welcome party gone wrong. Then there’s Cami his neighbour, who also tries to help him adjust to his new life, his surroundings and school and they start to have feelings for one another. His parents are a bit overprotective but that is understandable and it was written in a way that anyone could understand their feelings.

Honestly, i can’t say it enough, this book was beautiful. I read it in one day and i loved the journey it took me on. I remember going to Goodreads to find out more about the book, when i was considering reading and all the reviews i saw kept talking about the twist ending and i was like “i don’t think anything can surprise me” boy was i wrong.

The ending was so i don’t know, i mean like words can’t even describe that ending. It still haunts me till this day, this was how i felt

Reading Challenge for 2018

The last time i did a reading challenge, was a Goodreads reading challenge in 2016. For that reading challenge i only stated the number of books i’ll like to read and it was fun doing it then but i haven’t done another since then.

A few days ago while i was on Pinterest i saw this reading challenge and was like why not, this could be fun and will also allow me to read a book i might not have considered.

So here is my reading challenge list:

  1. Read a book by an authour you’ve never read before.  Dead to you by Lisa McMann
  2. A book you chose for the cover.
  3. A book set in a place you want to visit.
  4. A book you’ve read before.
  5. A book with your favourite colour in the title.
  6. A book by an authour you love.
  7. A book published this year.
  8. A New York Times bestseller.
  9. A fantasy novel.
  10. A murder mystery.
  11. A book on time travel.
  12. A classic.

So this is my list, i better get started

Will keep you updated and you can also join in the challenge.

Review for Mulan

Summary of the movie

Fearful that her ailing father will be drafted into the Chinese military, Mulan, takes his spot — though, as a girl living under a patriarchal regime, she is technically unqualified to serve. She cleverly impersonates a man and goes off to train with fellow recruits. Accompanied by her dragon, Mushu, she uses her smarts to help ward off a Hun invasion, falling in love with the captain along the way.

My Opinion

OK, so I have been wanting to do a review for this movie for some time – why? Well this is my number one favourite movie in the entire world. I love this movie.
tenor (4)

I love the fact that Mulan isn’t a princess and Shang isn’t a prince. It’s just a girl who wanted to be more for her family and bring them honour who falls for a guy who is also trying to bring honour for himself and his country and not live under his father’s shadow. The movie isn’t centred on their love story but shows how their respect for one another turned into something else, it wasn’t until the very end their love story was put in front of us, before that it was all about saving China first.

A live action movie is coming out soon and I hope it does this amazing movie justice because except for the jungle book and Cinderella, the other live action movies have just been OK, nothing special. I don’t want that for my favourite movie, Mulan is a total badass and incredible. My other wish is that they do justice to “Be A Man”, that song is my jam.

My Rating: 10/10

Rotten Tomatoes: 86

IMDb: 7.6/10

Review of Brothers South of Mason Dixon by Abbi Glines

The only thing hotter than the weather South of the Mason Dixon line are the boys. Worn, faded blue jeans, slow Southern drawls, and those naughty moments in the back of pickup trucks a girl never forgets. Welcome to the world of the Sutton boys. Five brothers who fight, party, drink a little too much, but more importantly, they love their momma. Nothing can tear them apart… except women. Especially a red headed beauty with secrets. No one truly knows her… not a Sutton boy… and not Dixie Monroe. Scarlet North smiles on the outside but inside her damage runs deep.

Summary of the Book
The book is about Scarlet North and Bray Sutton. She cheated on his twin brother with him and ran away after that and decided to start a new life, but her past comes back to hunt her.

My Opinion
I didn’t like this book, it was just too infuriating. Ok so this is the second book in the Boys South of Mason Dixon series. The first one was about the oldest brother Asher, the second boy Steel and the girl Dixie- yes it was also a love triangle thing. So, there are five Sutton boys- Asher, Steel, Brett, Bray and Dallas and for some reason they are so hot that no girl can decide which one she wants, but you know what that wasn’t what made me bored of this book.
You see the problem I had with this book was the characters. I’ve read all of Abbi’s books and honestly all the characters are pretty much. Girl who has a past, meets a boy or the boy is somehow connected with her past, they fall in love, something happens, they separate and the boy tries to get the girl and the girl keeps refusing and everyone around the boy for some unknown reason keeps telling the boy not to break the girl’s heart, when it’s so clear that the boy is trying his best to get the girl, but girl so dumb she doesn’t know what she wants and all the blame is always on the boys and the girl never gets any blame even when most of the issues they are facing is partly her fault, and then everyone with their magical eyesight is always like “that girl has been through so much, she is so brave, you should treat her better or else” and don’t get me started on how all the guys are always possessive for some reason, if they see anyone glance at their girl, they are ready to start a fight and I’m just like “is this really how people behave or am I dreaming”.
So Scarlet dated Brett to get to Bray, then cheated on Brett with Bray and when everyone finds out she leaves and starts a new life, when her best friend in the world and someone who’s always been there for her is getting married, she doesn’t want to go and it took the persuasion of the youngest Sutton boy to convince her to come, when she gets there she see Bray and he wants to start over again and wants to be with her, but this crazy girl keeps saying no, he tries with this girl and she refuses like constantly and everyone is just like “Scarlet taught me the real meaning of bravery” . sorry but all I saw her do was run and hide. When she made a mistake with the twins, I get giving some time to sort things out between themselves and then facing the consequences, but she ran and never came back almost didn’t come back for her friend’s wedding, because she was scared of facing them. Honestly, I would have been happier if Bray ended up with someone else since she was being so difficult, that would have been a twist I would have loved. I’m sure in the next book they whoever it’s about will be like they went through so much and came out even stronger. No that isn’t what happened.

Pace of the Book: It was OK. Nothing special

Rating: 2/5

Goodreads Rating: 4.19

Super powers I would like to have

With this being the era of a lot of super hero movies and tv shows, I would like to give a list of some super powers I think are pretty cool and I would like to have.

I love shapeshifting. They can transform and reshape themselves potentially down to their genetic and cellular structure. They can impersonate others or enhance their own body for combat, either by turning into animals, monsters, or by making the body stronger, which is a cool super power to have. It would be cool to be able to shapeshift like Mystique.
Pros and Cons: Pro, you can change into anything. Con, you might not be able to control it.

I just had to put this one, it’s so funny.

People who can turn invisible render themselves unseen by the naked eye and become invisible in visible spectrum. They can move about an environment unseen by others and act without being observed. This is a cool power but can be difficult since your clothes can’t be invisible with you, so you have to take them off. Like Susan Storm.
Pros and Cons: Pro, can go and be anywhere without being seen. Con, may require great amount of concentration.

People with healing abilities can restore their organisms back to its optimal health, curing damaged or withered organisms, wounds, broken bones, and diseases/poisoning. This super power also delays aging since your organisms are always repairing themselves. It would be so cool if i could heal like deadpool or wolverine.
Pros and Cons: Pro, ability to heal yourself and others. Con, may alone be able to heal some kinds of wounds.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Some friends can communicate through facial expression but it would be so much cooler and easier to have the power of telepathy and communicate by reading each other’s mind, you can have conversations in public and no one will know. Like Professor X or Jean Grey.
Pros and Cons: Pro, know what people are thinking. Con, it’s not like the movies portray it, the mind doesn’t just have straight thoughts, a person can be thinking of multiple things.

This is the ability to understand, read and write any language. You could travel the world and never have to worry about any language barriers. For someone like me who loves languages and travel this super power is amazing. Like the Doctor
Pros and Cons: Pro, speak and understand any language. Con, doesn’t work on non-verbal communication

Time manipulation
With time manipulation, you can manipulate the time in general or specific areas in various manners, the basics revolving around accelerating, slowing, stopping and even rewinding or looping. The range of area affected is relative to how good user is, where masters can affect the entire space and time continuum. Like Hiro Nakamura.
Pros and Cons: Pro, ability to stop time or slow it down or go back and change something. Con, over-usage may strain the user.

This is the ability to predict the future. You foresee possible futures and observe what may happen. As knowledge of the future invariably causes that future to change, visions of the future are subject to change. While not being able to select futures or travel through time, these visions may assist in possible courses of action. Like Angela Petrelli.
Pros and Cons: Pro, know what’s going to happen and possibly prevent or help it. Con, the future although not set in stone can be scary to look at and can drive someone crazy

Mind control
With mind control you could persuade people to do anything you want. You can control the minds of others with targets being completely subject to their mental control. If placed into a semi-conscious state, they may not have any recollection of the previous actions that they performed while under its effect. Like Gorilla Grodd.
Pros and Cons: Pro, you can get anything you want just by asking. Con, Kilgrave.

People with this power can influence/manipulate/move objects/matter with their mind. Telekinesis is one of the basis of many superpowers that are based on “controlling/manipulating” and may evolve to the point that a Telekinetic can control anything at a subatomic, particle and universal level. I really like this power because the idea of not having to get up and get the remote is amazing. Like Scarlet Witch.
Pros and Cons: Pro, ability to move anything. Con, may be physically or psychologically straining or even crippling for the user, with the user either bleeding from the nose or eyes, falling unconscious, entering a coma, or even dying from the mental effort of using the ability.

Thanks for reading. What are your favourite superpowers.

Review for Without Merit by Colleen Hoover

Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing it deserves is forgiveness.

The Voss family is anything but normal. They live in a repurposed church, newly baptized Dollar Voss. The once cancer-stricken mother lives in the basement, the father is married to the mother’s former nurse, the little half-brother isn’t allowed to do or eat anything fun, and the eldest siblings are irritatingly perfect. Then, there’s Merit.

Merit Voss collects trophies she hasn’t earned and secrets her family forces her to keep. While browsing the local antiques shop for her next trophy, she finds Sagan. His wit and unapologetic idealism disarm and spark renewed life into her—until she discovers that he’s completely unavailable. Merit retreats deeper into herself, watching her family from the sidelines when she learns a secret that no trophy in the world can fix.

Fed up with the lies, Merit decides to shatter the happy family illusion that she’s never been a part of before leaving them behind for good. When her escape plan fails, Merit is forced to deal with the staggering consequences of telling the truth and losing the one boy she loves.

Brief Summary of the Book
So, this book is about a girl Merit Voss, she loves to collect trophies she hasn’t earned when she has a bad day. She meets this boy called Sagan and she likes him, but everything falls apart when she feels like her family doesn’t love or need her anymore and after that a lot of secrets come out and the family has to deal with the aftermath.

My Opinion
Honestly, I found this book very hard to read, I kept putting it down, it was just so predictable. Okay so spoilers ahead. I didn’t like any of the characters, you have some characters that you root for, that you feel like they could be an actual person you know, this wasn’t one of those times. I get writing about a family that has problems, that’s very relatable but this, ugh.

So first we have Merit who has depression and is an all-round shitty person, she thinks Sagan is her sister’s boyfriend but still goes after him and pretends to be her sister and makes out with him, I kept wanting to slap her in face. Then we have Sagan which I found out is Slavic for “Wise One” wow really. It’s one of those things where you name a character after their personality, he likes to say meaningful quotes and speak the truth the way it is and act like an old soul. The problem I had with him was the fact that he liked Merit and he obviously knew he wasn’t dating her twin sister, why not ask her out, or at least make it known that he wasn’t dating the sister, even if it was just us the readers who knew. Well I’ll tell you why, PLOT. I mean when we first meet Sagan he kisses Merit thinking she was Honor the twin, later on we find out that he did that because she acted different from Honor and wanted to kiss her. OK, fine, cool, honest mistake, fine but the way the plot kept going I thought he was dating the sister, I even assumed the sister was cheating on him- we’ll get to that wonderful story soon, but they weren’t even dating and he gets pissed at Merit, when all this could have been avoided if he just said “Hey Merit, I think you’re cool we should hang out sometime, I’m not dating your sister or anything”.

Now the rest of the family, we have the father who cheated on his sick wife with her nurse, gets the nurse pregnant, divorces his wife- who lives in their basement by the way, still sleeps with his ex-wife for some reason and his current wife knows about it and doesn’t say anything, is an atheist and says shit like “even though I’m an atheist, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t thank God that I have a wife who understands that.” He’s referring to the fact that his current wife knows he sleeps with his ex.

Then there’s the brother Utah who when faced with the question of if he was gay or not decided to try and make out with his sister Merit, because incest is the way to go.
tenor (1)

Then the twin sister who is a total b, she acts like all holier than thou and it annoys me, I mean she just doesn’t like her sister and yes Merit makes it hard, but this is your twin, maybe I watched to many movies about twins always having a strong bond or connection, even if they have different personalities. When the truth came out about the brother she didn’t believe Merit and was like because he didn’t try it with me it’s obviously a lie, come on man, seriously. She didn’t even bother considering it, it was until Utah came out and said it that she believed and yet she still didn’t go talk to Merit, oh and apparently, she likes dating guys that are terminally ill, I don’t know.
tenor (2)

Then there’s the current wife’s brother- I honestly can’t remember his name, forgettable characters. Anyway, he comes in almost takes Merit virginity and then sleeps with Utah. I think his character exists just to create more drama or awkward situations.

So, Merit tries to kill herself by taking her mother’s pills but changes her mind last second on crawls to her brother’s room and they make her throw up the pills. I’m sorry I thought when someone is suicidal they usually take them to the hospital and keep them on a 48-hr. watch or is that only in the movies.

Honestly, I feel like this book was just one drama to another and the drama wasn’t well written just rushed. I like Colleen Hoover, but this wasn’t a good one, no one faced any consequence, I didn’t have to be some big thing but at least an “OK I’ve learnt and grown from this” kind of thing. The only difference from the beginning to the end was that everyone’s secret was out. It pretty much tells me I can be a shitty person but as long as I apologize I will be forgiven.

Well it wasn’t all bad I got this nice quote from Sagan “Sometimes people surprise you if you let them”. It’s not really a quote but I related to it, sometimes because people have messed up in the past we tend to put up walls and not trust easily, but if we give people a chance they can show us that not all people bad. The book also talks about perspective, sometimes looking at things from only your point of view isn’t enough and you have to walk in that person’s shoes before you get the full picture,

Pace of the Book: Mostly slow
Rating: 2.5/5
Goodreads Star: 3.95

Sorry for the long post.

Review for Justice League Movie

Brief Storyline:
Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat Steppenwolf. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash — it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

My Opinion:
OK so I didn’t like this movie, it was just too rushed for my liking I didn’t feel anything when I watched it. The movie starts sometime after Superman’s death, can I just say I find it difficult that not one person in the entire world suspects Clark Kent to be Superman, I mean come on, all he does is remove his glasses and you’re telling me no one found it a bit suspicious that Clark Kent and Superman died at the same time. OK we can argue that because of what happened in Batman v Superman that Clark died in the crossfire of things, OK fine. So now that he’s back what’s he gonna say “oh I didn’t really die I was just away” how does that work, ugh.

images (1)
This movie had so much potential I mean after Wonder Woman I expected a lot but not this. I hate how they brought about the whole mother box thing, I mean one of those things was in Themyscira and we were just there for Wonder Woman, they could have made a reference, unless they did and I wasn’t paying attention.

Now I feel like the DCU is just rushing things, in the Marvel Universe the Tesseract was mentioned and showed before the first Avengers movie, I feel like they could have done the same thing with the mother boxes. I mean even the characters feel rushed. The only reason I know as much as I do about the characters is because of the CW Arrowverse and Smallville, Young Justice and the animated movies, if it weren’t for those I would have no idea why Barry Allen’s father is in jail or anything at all. I didn’t read the comics, not because I didn’t want to but they weren’t available to me, but the most popular heroes from this universe were Batman and Superman, they always had movies, so I don’t know much about these other characters. I feel like they should have brought out standalone movies for these characters before doing justice league. When Marvel first started out they did two Iron Man movies, one Captain America, one Thor and one Incredible Hulk before they did Avengers and even Black Widow and HawkEye were introduced in the other movies. I didn’t know anything about Thor until i watched his movie, it has taken Marvel ten years to get to where they are now, DC should take their time and develop these characters for us to see, even if it’s not an origin story, but a story of who they are and why we should like them, not cram them all together and expect an amazing movie.
